Environmental and Sustainability Policy
As an environmentally conscientious business, Fairfax Saddles Ltd is aware of the potential impact saddle making may have on the environment. We embrace sustainable development as a guiding principle within our work and acknowledge that concern for the environment is an integral and fundamental part of this commitment.
As an organisation, we are committed to ensuring that we:
- Comply with all obligations (legal and otherwise), including codes of practice and guidance produced by regulatory bodies, and meet all relevant specific standards.
- Set environmental objectives. These objectives will be documented (Environmental Action Plan), allocated targets, monitored and reviewed. The results will be communicated throughout the organisation and made available to interested parties where appropriate.
- Identify, quantify and reduce our carbon footprint and off-set our emissions through carbon neutral projects.
- Minimise negative environmental impacts within the financial constraints of the business and fully consider these impacts when making decisions including the supply chain, design of products, and end-of-life considerations.
- Invest in energy-efficient buildings and technology, improve energy management, manage business travel and influence colleagues’ behaviour in order to reduce carbon emissions.
- Raise employee awareness of Fairfax Saddles Ltd.’s environmental and sustainability risks, influence and encourage environmental and sustainable behaviours and identify and provide appropriate training to enable employees to play a full role in implementing this policy.
Where appropriate:
- Provide appropriate resources to meet the commitments of this policy.
- Ensure that our policies and services are developed in a way that is complimentary to this policy.
- Minimise waste by reduction, re-using and recycling, wherever economically and operationally feasible, and increase recycling options.
- Closely monitor energy and water consumption for each premises.
- Use energy, water, materials and other natural resources as efficiently as possible, giving particular regard to the long-term sustainability of consumable items.
- Ensure that our vehicle fleet is operated as efficiently as possible, such as using green fuels and energy efficient vehicles to cut down on emissions.
- Ensure that new buildings and refurbishment projects comply with relevant building regulations.
- Use environmentally friendly products.
- Arrange for automatic shutdown of equipment at an agreed time each evening and fit time clocks on items of equipment which are not required to be powered up 24/7.
- Work with local businesses, neighbours, partners or suppliers to encourage commitment and improvement in our local environment.
This policy will be communicated to all employees and organisations working for us, or on our behalf. Employees and other organisations are expected to co-operate and assist in the implementation of this policy, whilst ensuring that their own work, so far as is reasonably practicable, is carried out without risk to others or the environment.
